Yes, as you can see. I really need to post more. Hopefully, you have found me on Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/DMSLightForge) as I am MUCH more active with my FB time than I am updating any of my blogs.
So, I promise to try to do better starting today.
So Chad was kind enough to let me play with his White Lighting 1600 after class this past week. I wanted to see how low I could get using the 1/4 power setting and a large softbox. Here is the result:

I got down to f1.4 with ease while keeping a nice soft light but this was actually too shallow for what I was looking for. I shot around at a few apertures up to about 2.8 but this was my pic from the bunch.
Thanks again to Chad for being my test subject! Hope you don’t mind a little extra exposure.

I just finished a few shots of Ben from his test shoot and wanted to share them with you guys. You may recognize him from his supporting role in “Monday – Poker Night”. Ben is an awesome guy and a barrel of fun on a shoot and I can guarantee he will grace this blog many times to come!

So I just typed up this long, gushy post… After reading it, I think I will save such sentiments for later. For now, you get what you came for, cool stuff…
Welcome to my little documentary… Come take a walk with me now as we look into the lives of those in the midst of that special time when accomplishments are measured in kegs, antics, and an utter lack of inhibition. When freedom is the most free they will ever know. When every evening as the sun sets, Life begins…
Welcome to The Roaring Twenties!
Monday – Poker Night…

Tuesday…. Coming Soon!
Well, frankly I have more editing to do right now that I can possibly hope to get done… So let’s blog about it rather than actually work on my backlog! Nah, I just want to take a break for a few minutes and let my eyes look at something other than the photoshop interface.
Right now I am working on the multitude of model tests I shot leading up to the start of the conceptual series, “The Roaring Twenties”. Many of the shoots were held specifically for the casting of this series but I still have a few that came even before the casting, back when I was mostly going after beauty shots. The shots I just finised fall into this area. Here is Heather:

It happened… The series is now officially underway! I want to give a very heartfelt thanks to all those who were involved with last night’s shoot. You all rock!!!!
We all started gathering at 7pm and started the first image at around 8. As I fully expected, we hit a few snags over the evening: lighting issues (as always), clothing mishaps (thanks Ben for being our resident clothing rental shop
), broken toilets (still can’t figure that one out), and near miss with a black eye (E Rock doesn’t play around man, she means business when she takes even a “pretend” swing. Sorry about your jaw Brandon.) Despite any glitches, the night was fantastic. We finished the first two shots of the series and wrapped just shortly after 10pm, which is nothing short of amazing since most of my shoots with a single model run 3 hours or more.
In addition to the two great iamges, we have loads of behind the scenes video to share. I am not sure if this is a good thing or a bad thing considering how crazy things got at times. Maybe I can find 3 respectable minutes of footage from the 3 hours of video we shot over the course of the photo shoot and dinner after to show here. Then again, maybe not. Oh, just a little side note… Eric, if you read this, video is always shot horizontally. No more “portrait” angles please.
In closing, I want to thank everyone again. Stephanie, Chad, Paige, Ben, E Rock, Brandon, Theresa, John, and last but so far from least, Eric, who is an awesome assistant (when motivated:) ) and a lifesaver with that table! Everyone check back soon for some behind the scenes vids of the first shoot and the first two images of: “The Roaring Twenties”.
Thank you for stopping by! Tonight officially marks both the launch of my new blog and the start of production on a new fine art conceptual series that I will be working on over the next few months.
The blog offers me a chance to let you guys crawl inside my head for a bit and look around. I hope you will like what you see! Here, I plan to showcase additional images not found in my portfolio, behind the scenes images and video from my shoots, tips, tricks, and tutorials on how I do things.
Now, on to the good stuff! Tonight I begin production on my first fine art conceptual series. The cast for this first shoot consists 10 talented individuals, many of whom you will recognize from my current portfolios both here and on Model Mayhem. The series is entitled “The Roaring Twenties” and chronicles the party lifestyle of young adults and the crazy antics that ensue.
Tonight we will be primarily working on the first 2 images of the series. This is going to be some powerful stuff and a major deviation from my normal work. Needless to say I am REALLY excited! Stay tuned for some behind the scenes shots and videos from the first shoot coming over the next few days.
So, thanks again for stopping by! I would love to stay and chat but I have a shoot to get to!
